Airport Parking Discount Codes: Do They Work, and What Actually Saves Money?

Mark Holmes
If you are searching for an airport parking discount code, you are probably a few days from flying and have just remembered the car. Here is what a code can and can't do, and what makes a bigger difference to the price.
Do airport parking discount codes work?
Sometimes. A code is only worth using if it applies to the product you want, on your dates, at the price you are being shown. Before you spend time hunting for one, check three things:
- What it applies to. Some codes cover one car park or one supplier only. Others exclude meet and greet, or hotel and parking packages.
- The dates. Codes often have travel dates or booking windows. A code that worked last month may not work for your trip.
- The final total. Compare the total at the last step of booking, including any mandatory charges, not the headline price on the first page.
If a code takes money off, great. If it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything, as long as you didn't pay the higher price while you looked for it.
"Special Offer" in a car park's name is not a code
Some products carry "Special Offer" in their name. On the Gatwick and Stansted pages on Parking4Less, for example, you will see Purple Parking Special Offer and Long Stay Special Offer. That is part of the product's name. You don't need a code to get that price.
Turning up without booking usually costs more
For most people this is the biggest saving, and it needs no code. Parking at the airport on the day, without pre-booking, normally costs more than booking ahead. Spaces can also run out in busy periods.
Published drive-up prices show the difference. At Stansted, the Mid Stay drive-up price is £16.50 per day and the Short Stay car park charges £36.00 for the longest stay of 24 hours.
Booking early is best, but if your trip is close, book as soon as you can. Pre-booked prices are not fixed and can change with availability, so don't leave it until you get to the airport.

A quick checklist before you pay
- Same car park, same dates, same times when you compare.
- Check the cancellation terms.
- Look at the total, not the first price shown.
- Keep your booking confirmation. It has the car park's contact details and its charges for staying longer than booked.
